Hidden away down a little alleyway off Hardman Street, Buyers Club has been providing those in the know with an extensive drinks selection, high quality food and an intimate venue space for almost a year now.
Quickly becoming a go to spot in Liverpool, the multi-functional space will be celebrating their first year of trade at the end of September. They’re hosting numerous events that are showcasing every aspect of the venue, from a spin on the traditional birthday party in the Kitchen to a special ‘Botanical Journey’ where you can create your own gin. Music will be a mainstay throughout, with DJ’s and live performances taking place upstairs and down.
Kicking things off for the extended weekend will see the launch of Ciu Ciu, a brand new club night. They are bringing Bradley Zero, the Rhythm Section label boss, to play a selection of his records all night long. The London based party of the same name, which takes place in Canavan’s Peckham Pool Club, has quickly become a staple for London clubbers, with Bradley hosting guests from around the world every other week. His NTS show is always a source of new eclectic music and with door tax only £3 if you pop your name on the Facebook event wall, it’s a no brainer! What’s more, the upstairs space has had a bit of a revamp over Summer and now has a brand new soundsystem and lighting rig. Can’t wait to see it being put to the test!
Rolling onto Friday, there’s a whole host of different things happening throughout the venue. In the kitchen, people have the opportunity to don a party hat and enjoy an innovative take on the tradition birthday party. The chefs will be ‘taking diners on a unique, nostalgic culinary journey’, with cheese & pineapple sticks, mini sausage rolls and trifle all on the menu. Somehow, we doubt it will be that obvious… Tickets start at £30 and there’s limited spaces.
Meanwhile, in the bar, Andrew Hill, the man behind Abandon Silence, will be playing records and drinking gin all night. It’s free entry and, having recently performed at Dimensions Festival, it will be a good opportunity to to hear some of his Buyers Club records.
Later on in the evening, the upstairs space will host Krystal Klear, one of the main guys behind Manchester’s Hoya:Hoya party. The skilled DJ will be playing alongside the Buyers Club residents Andrew Hill and Sam Tawil. It’s free entry if you stick your name on the Facebook event page and it’s looking like a lock in!
On Saturday, with sore heads from the night before, we’ll be digging through the records of some of Liverpool’s finest collectors. Look out for our Brand New Second Hand article coming next week from the Record Fair that’s taking place in the Buyers Club bar from 12pm ’til late. We’ll also be treated to a ‘Botanical Journey’ with Cocktail Kate where you can get the chance to go through the gin distillation process, selecting your own botanicals and making your own gin. Spaces are extremely limited for that so make sure you hit the ticket link! Later on, the Kitchen will be hosting the second of their Foraging Series. The first dinner they hosted was a sell out and a huge success, with the menu based on items sourced from the Seashore. This time around they’ll be foraging in the Meadow and creating a menu from the produce that they find.
For those wanting some live music this weekend, Liverpool’s very own Natalie McCool will be performing upstairs for her homecoming show and final gig of the tour on Saturday night. Following on from this, local party starters MODU:LAR will be transforming the club space with their very own resident DJ’s and visual artists. Having brought techno legends such as Margaret Dygas and Barac to the venue previously, we know this will not be one to miss. Downstairs in the bar, Bernie Connor will be on the decks all evening!
After what will have been an extremely indulgent weekend, there’s no better way to finish it off than with one of Buyers’ famous Sunday Roasts. From 1pm ’til evening, we’ll be treated to a great plate of grub as well as the opportunity to find out about some of the wines on offer at Buyers, with tasting sessions being run by R&H Wines. They will also be spinning their favourite selection of Italo Disco records so it’s likely that we’ll spend all day there… All day, well, maybe all weekend if that’s alright?!
Happy birthday Buyers Club, we promise to bring some cake!
