Formerly know for being a promoter under the guise of Samizdat; Andrew Ellis spent the early 2000’s bringing bands to the city, from Arthur Russell’s Instrumentals and Daniel Johnston, to early shows for Foals and Deerhunter.
Having broken out of the promotion game and shifted towards one-offs, Ellis now splits his time between project managing and consulting on new music projects for the likes of Darkstar, Evian Christ, Forest Swords and Mount Kimbie and the rest of his time managing Liverpool’s own Erased Tapes’ signees Immix Ensemble. Immix commission artists from across the genre spectrum for unique performances in the city alongside their own classical instrumentalists, working with electronica acts like Vessel and Luke Abbott alongside the left-field songwriting of Stealing Sheep and Jane Weaver.
Having held down a residency at the Kaz Garden with James Binary for the past five years, this is his chance to give an airing to the less high energy tracks he picks up across his travels. Tune in every month as he kicks off the Sunday schedule with a inimitable blend of contemporary classical, experimental and ambient works. Kettle on…
