Credited with co-creating Afrobeat alongside his long-time collaborator Fela Kuti, Allen enjoyed a career in the fore and the underground that spanned several decades. 
Following his split from Fela in the late 70s, Tony Allen went on to fuse his Afrobeat sound with genres from around the world; whether working with techno great, Jeff Mills, or drumming in supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen alongside the likes of Damon Albarn (Blur) and Paul Simonon (The Clash).
Over the course of 1 hour, we’ve tried our best to document a life in music; with tracks from the golden era of Afrobeat to the dance floors of Europe. Of course, to summarise this in such a short window is futile. We hope however that this mix helps to celebrate, remind and introduce its listeners to a man dubbed by Brian Eno as ‘The greatest drummer who ever lived.’
