“Sound the System” with Slipmat Records is a new regular show exploring Jamaican Sound System Culture of the past 60 years. From Kingston to Notting Hill, Rocksteady to Dancehall and Coxsone Dodd to Mungo’s Hi-Fi! A full hour of Reggae that’s meant to be played LOUD!

Mat Oliphant - owner of Slipmat Record Store in West Kirby has been playing with Systems, at Festivals and alongside some of Reggae's biggest names for the past 10 years as well as running his own regular club nights around the country. A few of the artists include, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Dennis Bovell, Don Letts, Iration Steppas, Prince Fatty, Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Horseman, David Rodigan, Norris Man, Little Roy, Macka B and General Levy. He now runs “Skankin Sundays” on the 1st Sunday of every month at The Wild Inn, West Kirby - the Wirral’s only monthly reggae night.

This week, Sound the System warms us up for our new monthly reggae night, IN FINE STYLE, at Melodic Bar & Coffee
