Based in Rome, Stuttgart, and Liverpool, the crew initially wanted to make their sounds accessible to the public; to create an open platform for sharing ideas and establishing contact with people who share similar interests.

Upitup remains completely uninfected by commercial interests – to the contrary, they take pleasure in the music industry trying to catch up with new technologies while suffering from its self-imposed politics. Upitup have released music for free since 2003.
