"The funkiest of Bopz, rooted in Liverpool, growing upwards and outward..."
Liverpool's funkiest trio cement their status as one of the hottest underground hip-hop acts around with new record "Bludmoon". The group's laidback flow and silky smooth beats have been familiar to heads in the North West for a number of years now, whilst their participation in last year's Brownswood curated Future Bubblers 3.0 compilation is ample evidence of the trio's growing influence further afield.
"Bludmoon" is another exciting development in the group's self styled "healing hip hop sound." Stickydub, Yloh and Doopsman, each with their own uniquely relaxed flow, lay their smokey bars over warm chords and a tight beat, which acts as the perfect anchor to the trio's hazy vocals. Underpinning all of these however is the track's deep, rich and dubby bass line, which, alongside the trio's MCing, has its echoes in the work of dub pioneer King Tubby and the dancehall pioneered by his protege Lloyd “Prince Jammy” James.
With summer right around the corner, "Bludmoon" has arrived at the perfect time to soundtrack these sunny days - whether spent with six friends at a social distance in your garden, or solo in the park, this is perfect summer music - and we for one hope there's plenty more to come from this exciting trio.
"Bludmoon" is out now on Bandcamp, with all the money generated donated to Black Lives Matter charities. You can purchase it HERE.
