Lockdown Live Lounge: Sara Wolff & Ali Horn

Lockdown Live Lounge returns with two more concerts from one home to another! We may still be (2 metres) apart, but now more than ever we need to connect with our online communities to bring us together. We hope to do just that this week, with some more fresh talent from around the globe.

Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out!

This week, we're delighted to welcome two fantastic local talents! First up is Sara Wolff. Sara is a songwriter and musician from Bergen, Norway, who has made a name for herself with her beautiful, lyrically focussed take on alt-folk.

Sara has carved out her own unique niche within the alt-folk sphere. She constructs a sound that combines gentle instrumentation with a lyrical sharpness, defined by it's wicked sense of humour - one that almost belies the soft accompaniment that flows underneath her charming vocals.

Sara has amassed a strong following within Liverpool with her debut self-released single 'Forget Me Not', which received airplay from the likes of BBC Introducing Merseyside (as well as being picked up by the Norwegian national broadcaster NRK P3), whilst her sophomore release 'Scarf Song' was premiered by Liverpool cultural stalwarts Bido Lito. She was also selected to be part of Merseyrail Sound Station's inaugural group of artists, cementing her status as one of the city's finest up and coming talents!

Sara has been productive over the lockdown period, playing at the Liverpool Digital Music Festival and releasing a new demo track 'homesick' which you can listen to HERE. We're super excited to welcome her to the Lockdown Live Lounge!

Next up, after a stunning debut Lockdown Live Lounge performance, our local lad and Big Floppy Bangers co-host Ali Horn returns - welcome back Ali!

When this loveable chap isn’t being everyone’s favourite town busker (pre-lockdown, ofc), he’s busy bossing life in general. 2019 saw Ali release his debut EP ‘It Wears Off’, six songs exploding with hazy pop hooks, sunburst psychedelia and themes that stray between birth, death, love and paranoia. Since releasing ‘Modern Voodoo’ back in April of last year, Ali appeared on Liz Kershaw’s BBC Radio 6 Music show twice, with the following single ‘Dreamers’ selected as one of 6 Music’s Tune of 2019 So Far.

No longer one of Liverpool’s best kept secrets, Ali also appeared live in session for the likes of BBC Introducing and Janice Long on BBC Radio Wales. He toured the UK extensively last year, playing shows with the likes of The Magic Gang and Red Rum Club and somehow making it as far as East of Russia to for a show in Ulyanovsk. After ending the year with his biggest headline show to date in his hometown of Liverpool, Ali is back writing and recording new material for release in 2020.

Join us on our Facebook page for Sara Wolff on Monday 20th July, 2pm and for Ali Horn on Thursday 23rd July, 2pm.
