Okay. You know it. We’re all stuck in quarantine. We may have been living off peanut-butter toasties and seeing how long we can leave our hair unwashed because, well... just because. But at least we’ve still got the internet (oh, holy one!) and the music. With everyone being stuck indoors, we have a brand new online series for you: Lockdown Live Lounge.
Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out.
This week we welcome back a familiar face - artist and performer Miedo Total. Following a trance-laden guest show on our airwaves last year, he now graces our Lockdown Live Lounge with original instrumental and vocal material. Otherwise known as Alexander Comana, his work navigates emotional landscapes and affectations that cannot easily be defined. He reframes them within the context of extremes, meandering between instrumental acts of electronic aggression and vocal torch songs. His debut EP, Volt Room, was released in May 2019 via experimental electronic label Jerome Worldwide. We're excited to hear it alongside multiple instruments, creative compositions and nice lighting to match.
Secondly, we welcome avant-soul singer Sharky into our homes. With a sound described as 'abstract jazz, bass culture, sugary pop and wonky electronics', London-based Sharky erupted onto the UK music scene with her debut EP Fruit in 2019. Her distinct vocals have been compared to the likes of Minnie Ripperton and NAO, and they’re showcased perfectly on her latest offering 'Love And Ownership'. This 4-track EP, which is out now, explores a range of personal experiences and observations from Sharky. She explains: “Love and Ownership EP has again been an exciting collaborative experience. I was excited to take the experimental elements from 'Fruit' and continue a process of refinement. I am enjoying more and more contrasting my writing between tunes to make you dance and more introspective songs.” Sharky will be supporting Jordan McKampa on his UK tour this Winter. Full list of dates here.
Join us on our Facebook page for Miedo Total on Monday 18th May, 2pm and Sharky on Thursday 21st, 2pm.
